Journey Through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Faith

Join me on a unique journey as I share my experiences in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while pursuing a seminary education. Discover reflections on physical, mental, and spiritual growth through my training and insights.

About "Jiujitsu Seminarian"

Join me for a journey down two roads: training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ("the Gentle Art") and beginning theological studies to become a pastor. After a career serving in the military and law enforcement, I have felt the Call to continue to serve others through care and protection.

The journey will lead from the Sword to the Cloth, from serving in a physical realm to the spiritual one, yet still grounded in my martial arts training. I am documenting my experiences and looking to discover how both paths can complement each other, help me on my journey, and hopefully help others through my testimony.

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling martial art, focused on ground fighting and submissions. It originated in Brazil in the early 20th century and continues to develop and gain worldwide popularity. It has origins from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.

What is a Masters of Divinity Degree?

My Masters of Divinity Degree program prepares a person to become an ordained pastor. The program is four years, which includes three years of course work studying theology and worship practices, a chaplain certification, and one year serving as an interim pastor.
